Hi friends,
I am going through a writer’s block regarding stories. Please send me the first line for a story, so I can build on it–any thing mundane or crazy would do.
I am picking this idea from Pete, who is by far, my favourite short story writer.
Thanks for the help in advance.

I also write short stories. I write my stories based on a picture. This is an effective way to skirt around writers block. Check it out. emptyboat11.wordpress.com/category/snap-story/

Hi Emptyboat! Thanks for the suggestion. A lot of my stories are photo-prompt too. I am just not getting th same vibes from pictures now. I will definitely visit your blog. I love reading stories.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you find some solution soon. Writer’s block shouldn’t stay for too long.

:) I got a lot of help in the form of first sentences. Unfortunately, I am short of time now a days due to Ramadan. So, I’ll jump back once Eid is gone.

Good luck, Shaily! I have added this one to Pete’s post as well: “As she walked towards the stage to pick up her literary award, she wondered what everybody would think if they knew the truth.”

I pulled the sliding door open just enough to squeeze through and I stood out on the veranda drinking in the cold pure mountain air. There was a full moon and I could see all the way down to the stream at the bottom of the garden.

I think a lottery, an estate from dead aunt or a admission to witch school are overused news…hmmm. Let me think… Thanks a ton, Lauren. I can hear the cogs in my brain moving already.

How about an unknown twin sibling, an unexpected all expenses paid admission to college, a secret admirer from the past, a biological parent that was unknown…

Unfortunately, I have already read all those. I will have to do a bit further digging. 😃

That’s unexpected for sure! :) I accept the challenge, WB! :) Thank you.

Thanks, Pete! Surely there are places hotter than the Gobi. May be the Sun…or … well, let me think!
