I like the opening very much; like you I feel the encroaching darkness, a metaphor it seems for the ‘dark night of the soul’ and I love the resplendent last line —

Thank you, John! I have been feeling very connected to God lately. When I pray I feel his presence around me and the darkness within me dissipates.
