Taking steps one at a time,
Lost in a haze of images–
Too slow to look at,
Too fast to understand,
Backwards in the good times we had,
Fast forward in the non-existent future.
Voices of friends
a blur of background noises–
Too high to like,
Too low to register,
Numb to all pain–
Too numb to be alive,
Too dead to be breathing,
Still existing
In a world without you…

a sad, succinct poem — we all have our fears; it’s how e handle them that’s important; not always easy. I know 😦

I have had too many nightmares where I was being rejected. It left me in pool of tears every time. Losing someone to death is painful in the extreme, but losing them to life has a recurring sting that people often don’t understand.

Good to see the comments box back.
I really felt the sense of loss in every word of this. In fact, it was overwhelming.
One of your best, Shaily.
Best wishes, Pete.

Thank you, Pete! I’m not sure where it came from. Being numb is not an ability I have. I have to deal with any pain in the face.
