Tiny Story: The Monsters

After hiding beneath the bed for half an hour, he whispered, “Do you think it’s gone?”

Teddy bear replied, “Not sure. Want me to find out?”

He helped Teddy peak out from under the bed. Teddy said in a bright voice, “Yup! Gone! I told you, you needn’t worry while I am around.”

He hauled his 26-year-old frame out from under the bed. “I was just being cautious! You can’t beat all of them.”

  1. Is it weird I find this a bit sinister? Is the teddy using the threat of a monster to control the young man and keep him in a vulnerable state? Is the teddy bear the real monster? Am I reading too much into this??

    1. That comment gives me a completely new outlook towards my story! So, thanks for that! The young man is now 26. The fact that he talks to his Teddy bear shows his mental state. His hallucinations are the real monsters. The Teddy is, well, just another Teddy! :)
