Is it weird I find this a bit sinister? Is the teddy using the threat of a monster to control the young man and keep him in a vulnerable state? Is the teddy bear the real monster? Am I reading too much into this??

That comment gives me a completely new outlook towards my story! So, thanks for that! The young man is now 26. The fact that he talks to his Teddy bear shows his mental state. His hallucinations are the real monsters. The Teddy is, well, just another Teddy! :)

Your reasoning definitely makes more sense :) I have a phobia of teddy bears, so that may be colouring my view!
